Well done and thankyou!

Thursday 11th March 2010 saw Stoke-on-Trent's first Youth Hustings event take place at the Victoria Hall. The event saw representatives from all the political parties which will be standing in this year's General Election put to the test by the City's young people.

There were some very good questions put to the panel, which at times had them squirming in their seats, so well done to everyone who managed to have their say, and we hope you got the answers you were after.

We would also like to thank Mitchell High and Stoke-on-Trent Youth Services for helping spread the word and getting so many young people along to the event, The Sentinel for their invaluable help in promoting, and Chief Editor Mike Sassi for chairing the event, and Michael Barnes from CSV without whose help it just would not have been possible. THANKYOU!

What happened

"In a city that's supposed to be full of political apathy, these young people demonstrated passion, commitment and, most of all, the need to carve out a bright future for themselves and the City."

"Election fever got off to an early start as political figures were put through their vote-winning paces by more than 150 young people... the politicians were in no doubt that they must try harder if they want to win over a new generation of voters."
